Nick Dishler

Operations Director

How long have you worked at Camp? Were you a camper and/or counselor before?
I have been the Operations Director at Camp Kanata since the beginning of 2016. My first experience with Kanata though was 20 summers as a camper, trainee, counselor, and head male.

Favorite Camp memory?
My favorite Camp memory is when I was a camper here – all of it. Looking back, there have been hundreds of people who were involved in making Camp as magical as it was. I am glad that I can be one of those people for our campers now.

Where were you born?
I was born in Raleigh, but moved to Baltimore when I was four.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a teacher or professional camp counselor. I think I have picked the best of both worlds.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned in life?
I think the best way to say it is the writing on our front entrance sign: “Be well and do good.” Take care of yourself and make your actions positive in the world.

What are some of your favorite thing(s) and why?
My three favorites (in no particular order) are: Ashley, my wife, and our two wonderful children, Eleanor and Charlie. I met Ashley at Kanata and even proposed to her here. I am excited for when my kids are old enough to be campers here, but they don’t need to rush growing up yet.
