Christmas Week: July 21-27

Opening day:

We had a great first day today! We loved getting to know our new Kanata campers and everyone is excited for an awesome week ahead. For dinner we had spaghetti and meat sauce, with garlic bread and green beans for sides. Our Evening Program, an Opening Campfire, was fantastic! Campers and staff enjoyed watching silly skits and singing songs together. We could really feel the Christmas spirit in July today and can’t wait for tomorrow!

Monday:

It was a fantastic day here at Kanata! For breakfast we had bagels with ham and fruit. Lunch was philly cheese steaks. Campers loved getting the opportunity to try out new activities during our free period, Shoulda Woulda Coulda. Dinner was baked chicken, hawaiin rolls, green beans and corn. Our Evening Program, a Christmas Tree Pageant where campers got to dress their counselors up as trees with unique personalities was a blast! We loved our first full day together and can’t wait for the rest of the week!

Tuesday:

We had an awesome day! For breakfast we started off with delicious cinnamon rolls and bacon. Lunch was chicken and waffles with fruit. Campers had a blast during our extended Cabin Time and Rest Period with creative programming from their counselors. Many cabins had fun building forts within their cabins and doing other fun rainy day activities like playing cards. For our Unit Night we still had the usual hot dogs and s’mores for dinner and many Units also decorated Christmas Cookies. After dinner, the Spartans and Daisies had fun in a Winter Wonderland extravaganza in the Dining Hall, the Butterfly and Ranger Units watched a Christmas movie in the Gym, and Hilton and Lower Lake had a blast with Karaoke Night. We can’t wait for tomorrow!

Wednesday:

It was a great day! We started our morning with a breakfast of hawaiin rolls, sausage, and eggs. Lunch was a mac-and-cheese bar with meatballs. We had a blast staying cool at the lake and pool during the perfect weather we had today. Dinner was barbeque with all the fixings.  Our Evening Program tonight was the Dance. Campers had a fantastic time getting ready with their cabins and dancing the night away. We can’t wait for Christmas Eve at Camp tomorrow!

Thursday:

We had an incredible Christmas Eve. We started our morning with a breakfast of pancakes, bacon, and cinnamon apples. Lunch was chicken sandwiches and sweet potato fries. For dinner we had tacos and churros. Our Evening Program was a special Christmas Eve ceremony with songs, skits, and a reading of the Polar Express by Ryan, our director. We are so glad to be together for this week and we can’t wait for Christmas in July tomorrow!

Friday:

Christmas at Camp Kanata is truly a wonderful feeling. We started off our morning with donuts, cereal, and eggs at our cabins. Lunch was corn dogs and mac and cheese bites. The Kanata Christmas spirit stayed high throughout the day and everyone was excited for our final cheer-off of the week after a dinner of meatball subs. We had a Closing Campfire to finish our week. After songs, rank presentations, and a winning skit from the Hilton Unit we said goodnight to each other. We are thankful for a wonderful week together and it is hard to believe it’s almost over.
