Pool and Waterfront Lifeguard

YMCA Camp Kanata is seeking qualified lifeguards to work during the summer of 2023 at both our pool and lake waterfront.  Our lifeguards are responsible for the well-being of our campers and staff who are in and around the swimming pool and waterfront and also the Kerr YMCA swim team participants.

Time Commitment

We are looking for qualified lifeguards who are available between June 4 and August 19, 2023 between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 8 p.m.  There are both full time and part time opportunities and various shifts available. 

Eligibility

Our lifeguards must hold current lifeguard certifications and show evidence of certification.  You must be able to get to work and back home each day on your own (or via a ride).  Prior lifeguard experience preferred but not required.

Character

Our staff members must possess the highest moral character and serve as positive role models.  This can be articulated through Kanata’s founding character traits: Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Faith, and Family.

Your Role

The Camp Kanata Pool Lifeguard is responsible for maintaining the maximum safety of the campers, staff and families as his/her primary duty at the YMCA. Lifeguards are also to be prepared, certified and equipped to handle emergency situations as they occur.  He/she is responsible for managing those functions in accordance with the mission and principles of Camp Kanata and the YMCA.
