Elementary School Weekend Camp

It will be a fun-filled weekend with lots of the activities you would experience during week-long summer camp at Camp Kanata.

Elementary School Weekend Camp is a great opportunity for those who are newer to camp or not quite sure if they are ready for a full week of overnight camp. Weekend Camp is also great for those who want to prepare for the summer by attending camp in the spring or fall.

Elementary School Weekend Camp is for grades 1 - 5 and held Sept. 18 -20 2020.

We will be keeping cabins (campers and counselors) together throughout the weekend. They will rotate between activities together and do their meals together. We are working on a plan to provide more individualized meals as well so that we can reduce the need for shared serving utensils amongst cabin mates.

We will house 8 campers maximum per cabin with 2 counselors and they will be 6 feet apart while sleeping.

Governor Cooper's latest Executive Order mandates masks for children 5 and up and we will comply with this while we are at camp in the following ways:

  • When we are inside the cabin (not sleeping), we will wear masks.
  • When we are outside, we will wear masks if we cannot maintain at least 6' of distance between ourselves.

Our staff have gotten very good at working with kids to ensure they stay distanced and wear their masks. They are also pros at cleaning in between groups and ensuring that we are all washing our hands or using hand sanitizer throughout the day.

Anyone entering camp property will need to have their temperature checked upon entry.  We need to limit the cabin move in process to one parent per camper inside cabins, wearing masks and working as quickly as possible to set up the camper and exit the cabin.
