Thanks to you and your vote, Camp Kanata was selected as a $75,000 Chick-fil-A True Inspiration Award winner on November 10! Over the next three years, the money will help fund camperships and leadership opportunities for children and teens in our community.
"We are so grateful for the community's support and to the Chick-fil-A Foundation for selecting us as a finalist," said Shane Brown, Executive Director of Camp Kanata. "This grant will allow us to help even more children in our community."
Your Vote Mattered
Dave Butts, a local Chick-fil-A owner/operator and Camp Kanata volunteer, nominated Camp Kanata for the True Inspiration Award.
"When I became aware of the grant, it was just a natural fit," said Dave. "There are so many similarities between camp and Chick-fil-A."
The Chick-fil-A Foundation reviewed the nomination and selected Camp Kanata as one of three organizations in the Atlantic Division.
For two weeks in October, we asked former campers, staff, donors and Camp Kanata to vote through the Chick-fil-A One app. Dave Butts was thrilled to learn that Camp Kanata earned the most votes.
"This grant will ensure that may kids can attend Camp Kanata - regardless of their personal situations," said Dave. "These children will become enriched by the influence of the staff and other campers."
This annual award honors organizations that support innovative education, emerging leadership development and youth entrepreneurship.
