Vista! There is so much excitement and anticipation as your camper gets ready for overnight camp.
Going to camp can also be a little scary for new campers. We want everyone to come to camp ready to have a great time.
Here are some hints to get rid of those pre-camp jitters:
Foster excitement with your camper.
Show your camper Camp Kanata videos or photos of all activities to get him/ her ready. Children often fear the unknown, so seeing pictures of where they will sleep, eat and play is helpful.
Ask your camper to set goals for Camp.
Maybe it is canoeing or swinging on the Tarzan rope. Maybe it is experiencing the BLOB for the first time. Your camper will feel great to have something to look forward to and aim for.
Take a tour.
Camp Kanata offers tours all year long. Stop by before summer and give your child the chance to see Camp first-hand.
Also, be sure to read our information on the First-time Camper page.
