Camp prepares for Hurricane Florence

Over the last week, our team has been working to secure Camp and prepare to endure Hurricane Florence.

Canoes have been taken out of the water and, along with Camp vehicles, have been moved to higher ground or put in garages. Equipment is in storage and “anything that can move” has been secured as we brace for the storm.

Community Engagement

In the interest of safety, and mandated by a county-wide evacuation of Pamlico County, all Extended Season staff from Camp Sea Gull and Camp Seafarer are at Camp Kanata for the duration of the storm. We are grateful to be able to house them and keep them out of harm’s way along the coast.

Updates and More Information

Be sure to check our Facebook and Instagram account for updates and also back here on our blog. We will continue to share pertinent information as we are able.

After the storm passes, we will assess Camp Kanata and determine the schedule moving forward for programming this fall.

Thank you to our Camp community and alumni for all of the support and offers of assistance. Here at Camp Kanata we are family, and you have proven that ten times over these past few days.

Stay tuned and stay safe!
