Closing Day at Camp Kanata

Vista!

We’re so happy you chose to send your child to Camp this summer. We have no doubt it was an incredible week for them, full of new friendships, trying new activities and becoming more comfortable with themselves. We’re sad to see this week come to an end, but we know your camper is ready to be back home with you. Closing day at Camp, much like opening day, can be a bit overwhelming for campers and their parents. There are usually lots of emotions, and it can feel a bit chaotic with everyone trying to leave at once. We’ve outlined a few takeaways from our closing day procedures below to help you get familiar with the process ahead of time.

Parking

Similar to opening day, Kanata Staff will assist you with parking closest to your Camper’s cabin assignment

Chapel

Our closing day chapel is a special time for campers to spend a final few moments together as a cabin, and relish in the Camp magic. Parents are encouraged to join us for this closing ceremony to get a feel for what campers experienced all week. Please note: if you would like to join us for chapel, you will need to arrive early to accommodate parking and a shorter chapel. Chapel will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the amphitheater by the lake, so please arrive by 9 a.m.

Cabin Pick-Up

Our goal is to make closing day as efficient as possible, so your child’s belongings will already be packed up and ready for pick-up by the time you arrive. If your camper is in the Hilton or Lower Lake cabins, their belongings will be stored in the backyard games area of Camp for pick-up.

When you check out of your camper’s cabin, they will receive a packet with letters home, their cabin photos and contact information for the other campers in case they want to stay in touch after Camp.

Cabin and Camp Lost and Found

Before you head out, please be sure to check out both the cabin lost and found and Camp lost and found to ensure none of your child’s items are left behind.

Med Pick-Up

Before leaving, please be sure to pick up all medications from the health center if you dropped any off on opening day.

We hope your camper had the best week(s) at Camp, and we can’t wait to see you next summer! Until next time, be well and do good.
