Did you know that the Neuse River is actually an estuary and starts right here in Wake Forest at Falls Dam and then travels all the way to the Pamlico Sound where it meets the ocean?
Campers, ages 12 through 15, can paddle seven miles of the Neuse on our weekly day trip. We put in at Paddle Creek’s Capital Boulevard entrance and paddle to the Buffalo Road take-out. Campers and trained Kanata staff paddle through slow-moving waters, often spotting animals and take frequent breaks for exploring the river banks and creek-stomping. We eat a picnic lunch on the river.
Campers who are not yet 12 can canoe on our camp lake at no extra cost. They sign up for that with their cabin counselors at check in.
The Neuse River Trip is available for an additional fee, and campers must register ahead of time. Please visit our sessions page for additional pricing.
